SRIXON- Driver Z Star
Key Technologies: The "Star" in Z-Star is an acronym that stands for Speed (four shaft flexes), Trajectory (9° or 10.5° loft), Alignment (adjustable lie and face angle, with 12 settings from 2.5° closed to 2.5° open) and Responsiveness (adjustable weighting includes four plugs of varying mass in seven different configurations).
Unassuming driver quietly goes about its business and, for the most part, performs pretty well.
DISTANCE: Respectable length for most testers; shots tend to roll a good ways.
ACCURACY/FORGIVENESS: The club's greatest strength is accuracy, one of the best in the test; changing lie angle curtails misses; definite corrective action on mis-hits for tight dispersion pattern.
FEEL: Light feel during the swing and solid sensation at impact.
PLAYABILITY: Club comes alive with a few turns of the wrench and weight changes, a nice toy for tinkerers; several testers extol its piercing, mid-flight trajectory.
LOOK: Big black head has a low-key, understated appearance; white grooves help with alignment.
